We are down to just two races to go before the chase field is set. 1st and 2nd are locked up but the battle is for the final two spots. Mike Tellier was on pole for the event. Tellier lead the first run but Dave Daniels was able to make quick work of the #97 for the top spot. After a few early cautions the race went on the longest run of the night. Just as green flag pit stops were starting, the yellow flew for Steven Davis in turn 4. Dave Daniels got the lucky dog and the race was on for the win. Tellier and Zach Michael battled for the lead with Mark Murphy and Daniels right behind. Daniels was able to work his way up to the top spot and checked out on the field. Dave held on for the win and Tellier just edged Michael at the line for 2nd.

Congrats to Dave on his win and see you next week for the FINAL race before the chase at Richmond!

For the second time, the Old Spice Cup Series heads to Watkins Glen. Dave Daniels and Tony Pizzaro qualified on the front row and Pizzaro had and electrical issue on the grid and lost two laps early on. Daniels ran away with the lead but John Battista was creeping up to the front after going to a backup car following a crash in qualifying. After a pair of early cautions Pizzaro made his way back onto the lead lap and into 3rd spot behind Battista and Daniels. As the laps were winding down Pizzaro lost control and spun into pit road, narrowly missing the wall. Mark Murphy took over 3rd but got loose and spun into the wall into the inner loop, ending his night. Battista pulled away from Daniels in the final laps and hung on for his first cup victory and 4th win overall

Congrats to John on his win and see you next week in Atlanta!

With the Cup Series nearing it's halfway point. We return to Indianapolis for the 2nd time. Mark Murphy won the pole and was primed for a better run than last night. John Battista, making a rare Cup start, was also running up front. Tex Perry made his season debut but handling issues caused him to bow out early into the race. Battista took over the lead but it was short lived as tire wear caught up with the #15. Murphy re-assumed the lead but Zach Michael had gained speed over the long run and caught the #98. Zach was trying to make a pass but opted to make his final pit stop with 25 laps to go. Murphy followed suit and pitted a lap later and despite Michael gaining two seconds over the pit stops, Murphy caught and passed the #14. With just a few laps to go Zach caught back up to Murphy again late in the run. On the final lap Michael had a run in Turn 2 and used it down the back to try and pass Murphy into 3. Murphy held on but did not get off of Turn 4 that great. Michael launched his car to the inside of Murphy at the line, but could not get it. Murphy hung on just long enough to get the win. Battista was able to finish a solid 3rd with Rob Scarberry in 4th, and Steven Davis in 5th.

Congrats to Mark on his win, Cup is OFF next week but will be back the week after for Watkins Glen!

Following an exciting All-Star race, the Cup series gets back to to business with it's first points race in 3 weeks. The series made it's debut at the Pocono Raceway Wednesday night. Mike Tellier won the pole and looked to have the dominant car. Tellier was running upfront when he got sideways out of the corner and fell back. Teammate Bronson Stafford was then able to take over the lead. Rob Scarberry was charging hard to the front but made contact with the #7, sending him around and ultimately ending his night. The race continued on with Scarberry in the lead but Tellier charged back up towards the front and took the lead. Almost everyone was saving fuel when Mark Murphy spun in turn three and brought out the yellow with just 11 laps to go. Everyone pitted and Tellier won the race of pit road. On the restart Tellier slipped and Zach Michael made a charge to the front but Tellier re-claimed the lead. Coming through turn 2 with just 4 laps to go, Tellier clipped the apron and slid up the track, Michael then got into the back of Tellier, sending him around and flipping over. Michael hung on for the win with Scarberry in 2nd for a MDM 1-2 finish, but was very subdued in victory lane. "That is not the way I race at all, a win is a win, but I hate getting them that way", Michael said in a post race interview. Tellier understood and chalked it up as "Hard racing".

Our condolences are with driver Rob Scarberry on the loss of his aunt following the race last night, she was 94.

Follwing the Traxxas Series, the Old Spice Cup Series takes on Darlington Raceway. Zach Michael won the pole for the 2nd night in a row and lead the field to green. After a few laps Zach surrendered the lead to Steven Davis, who was making his Butte Motorsports debut. The first caution came out when Ron Stout and Rob Scarberry made contact off of turn 4 and Scarberry was sent spinning. On the restart, Ron Stout took the lead but another quick yellow came out when Davis spun in Turn 3. Stout maintained the lead on the restart but Stout's car faded as the run went on and Zach Michael regained the lead. Strategy came into play with some drivers making their green flag stops early but Michael and Scarberry ran almost 15 laps longer than anyone else. Scarberry had trouble on his stop and went a lap down. Michael was able to stay on the lead lap but was over 16 seconds behind leader Ron Stout. With 40 laps to go it was time for all the drivers to push as hard as they could. Over the next 25 laps, Michael slowly reeled in Stout and with 15 to go Michael had caught up to Stout. Coming off of turn 2 Stout got tight and Michael was able to get under Stout and go by down the back straight. Michael was able to pull out to a 22 second lead in the final 15 laps and take home both trophies from Darlington.

Congrats to Kyle on sweeping the week. Thanks to all who raced and see you guys next week!

In week 3 of the season, the Cup Series heads to the mid-west to the newly reconfigured Kansas Speedway. Zach Michael won the pole by over two tenths. Michael lead the field to green but it was anyone's race with the top spot switching back and forth all night. Steven Davis has been known to run well at the 1.5 mile ovals, lead a few laps but faded on the long run. As the run went on, the field spread more and more apart. Rob Scarberry took the lead from Michael and pulled away. Green flag pit stops came and everyone played it safe and took four tires. Scarberry held a 2.5 second lead over the #14. Michael tried to close in on the #42 but could not get it done and eventually fell back to third. Scarberry played his cards right and was able to hang on for his first win in the cup series and 3rd all time.

Congrats to Rob on his win and see you all next Wednesday at Darlington!

Following the biggest race of the season, the series pulls a complete 180 and goes to Bristol. Tony Pizzaro won the pole but just two laps in he went behind the wall for mechanical issues. Pizzaro came back on the track but he was 3 laps down. Last night's winner Rob Scarberry took the lead but his lead was short lived as Zach Michael drove around the #42. Michael, who struggled throughout practice was doing much better than expected. Dalton Lucas took the lead from Zach and while leading he spun around. Lucas would then spin on then next run, ending his night. After a few cautions Pizzaro was finally able to get back to the lead. However, Pizzaro's night took another turn when he was black flagged for passing the pacecar and lost a lap. Michael took the over the lead. Following a lucky dog, Pizzaro was able to work his way back to the lead for the third time. As Pizzaro drove away with the win, Zach was left to fight with Mike Carroll for 2nd. Mike ran down the #14 and made the pass in turn 4 when Zach got sideways out of the turn. Carroll then over-drove turn 1 and Michael was able to go right back around the #50 and hang on for 2nd. But it was Pizzaro who gaped the field and won at Bristol.

Congrats to Tony on his win and see you Monday for trucks at Mansfield and Wednesday for cup at Kansas

In the biggest race in the league, The Old Spice Cup Series heads to Daytona for the 2nd running of the Daytona 500k. Bronson Stafford won the pole and Speed Demon Racing once again was hooked up and running well together. The first caution came out when the leaders tangled, taking out all but 2 cars. Zach Michael and teammate Rob Scarberry took the 1st and 2nd positions on the restart. After staying out on the caution, Mike Tellier was forced to pit along with Bronson Stafford. Stafford was caught speeding, which really hurt the chances of both Stafford and Tellier. Green flag pit stops cycled through and last night's winner Mike Carroll lost the draft, leaving the field spread very far out. Michael and Scarberry continued to run 1-2 for that run. Pit stops came again with just 25 of the 120 laps remaining, and again the MDM duo got in and out no problem. Carroll went a lap down and was in desperate need of a caution. The yellow would never fly. On the last lap Scarberry had a run and went to the outside were he met Zach's back bumper on a block. Scarberry tried again off 4 but could not get it done giving Zach his first win of the season, first Daytona 500k win and an MDM 1-2 finish. The race only had 1 caution and had an average speed of around 181 MPH.

Good racing guys, VERY clean racing from everyone. Congrats to Zach on his win and see you all next Tuesday and Wednesday for Traxxas and Cup at Bristol!
