REMINDER: A-2 Drivers cannot drive through multiple pit stalls on pit road
Phoenix hosted the Traxxas Series finale. Mark Murphy qualified on pole, but Zach Michael took the lead in turn 1. Michael's lead didn't last long as Dave Daniels passed him for the lead and dominated the race.
Phoenix also hosted the 2nd to last chase race. Michael was on pole this time and seemed to have a better car, but once again Daniels took the lead and never looked back, en route to another win

In the last race before the chase, the cup series returns to Richmond for a classic short track battle for the final chase positions. Mark Murphy won the pole but it was Zach Michael who rocketed around him for the lead. Just a few laps later, Dave Daniels took the lead and drove off with it. Daniels put the whole field a lap down and was looking to cruise to victory, but after Daniels pitted a caution came out, allowing everyone to catch back up. Daniels, Tex Perry, and Michael were all battling for the lead when Mark Murphy and Rob Scarberry made contact and brought the yellow out setting up a 2 lap dash to the finish. Michael dove bombed Daniels inside on the start and the two were side by side until they went into turn 3 when Michael got loose underneath Daniels and made contact and the two wrecked. Michael was not able to get going in time and Tex Perry snuck around him for his first career win.
Congrats to Tex on his first win and see you guys next week at New Hampshire.

With the last race before the Chase at Richmond, the 4 chase drivers will be decided. Here are the standings as they run. (Points ahead/behind cutoff) Bold = locked in (locks are based on our highest attendance, which is 18). Points reset is 1st = 2009, 2nd = 2006, 3rd = 2003, 4th = 2000 with 3 bonus points for each win during the regular season.
1. Zach Michael (+53) 2. Rob Scarberry (+33) 3. Mark Murphy (+18) 4. Steven Davis (+11) --Chase Cutoff-- 5. Mike Carroll (-11) 6. Mike Tellier (-44)
Mike Carroll needs to either finish 12 spots ahead of Steven Davis or win and Davis has to finish 9th or worse. Mark Murphy can fall out but would need 16 or more people to show, and we have not had that many since Talladega last season. Mike Tellier mathematically has a shot but needs almost a full 43 car field to have a chance. All other drivers are too far behind. Davis is also only 7 points behind Mark Murphy, moving to third would mean an additional 3 points when the standings reset, which could be huge.
