April Car Pack Here
Tonight the Old Spice Cup Series rolls into the first road course race of the season at the Sonoma Raceway. The NSRA has never run at a Road Course until tonight, it will be interesting to see who is the best at a totally different racing style compared to previous tracks. The standings are starting to take shape and the chase contenders are showing. Who will claim victory tonight?
Zach Michael (Leader) - Our points leader by just two points. He's won once this season and looks to continue the consistency.
Zach Leavitt (-2) - Leavitt won two races in a row but since then he's finished 4th and 8th, dropping him to 2nd in the points. Leavitt will look to re-claim the points lead in Sonoma.
Rob Scarberry (-15) - Scarberry has not yet won this season but has had the consistency to maintain 3rd in the point standings.
John Griggs (-24) - Griggs won Daytona but since he's finished outside the top 5 in every race, a win will help him make the chase but he can easily fall out.
Dave Daniels (-42) - Daniels is far away from making the chase but with a win he has the wild card spot as of now, another win could almost guarantee him that spot, but he can quickly loose it if someone else claims victory.
Rest of Field - Pete Glover is just 5 points out of the top 4 but with no wins he'll have to make it in on points right now. Ron Stout is just 6 points out, he's not been very inconsistent this season but has surprised us and run well at a few tracks. And Steven Davis is 11 points out, he is still in contention but a win would be huge for Davis.

In week 5 of the Old Spice Cup Series, the chase picture is starting to form. Dave Daniels qualified on the pole and lead early on. Steven Davis was running well but a crash damaged his motor and completely let go 15 laps later. Zach Leavitt ran in the top 4 all night but he blew a tire and smashed into the turn 3 wall, leading to a DNF for our points leader. Zach Michael lead quite a few laps after the restart but Daniels was able to get around the #14 and drive away from the field. Daniels dominated the race and won by over 17 seconds. Ron Stout brought home a Whelen Modified for 3rd place. It was a great points day for Zach Michael, who assumed the points lead by just two points. And a good day for Daniels as he now holds the Wild Card spot despite missing the Daytona race. The chase is heating up!
Congrats to Dave on his dominating win and thanks to all for showing up! See you Monday for Martinsville and next Wednesday for Cup at Sonoma!

In week 4 the Cup Series headed to the mid west for the STP 300 at the Kansas Speedway. 12 drivers took to the track to try and claim victory in the first race at Kansas. Dave Daniels claimed the pole and lead the first lap but Zach Michael took the lead on the second lap. Rob Scarberry caught his team owner and lead a few laps before surrendering the lead back to the #14. A caution came out on lap 59, just the third of the night, that set up a fuel mileage race to the finish. Zach Michael pulled to a 4 second lead over Dave Daniels but soon after Daniels was closing in on the 14, who had to back off to save fuel and tires. Daniels came within 2 seconds with just 10 laps to go but Zach was able to maintain that gap for the reminder of the race, crossing the line in first with just under 3 PSI of fuel pressure. Ron Stout brought home 3rd after a battle with Rob Scarberry. Zach Leavitt still has the points lead by just 5 points heading into Darlington next week.
Thanks to all for racing and see you all Monday for Talladega and next Wednesday for cup at Darlington!!

In week 3 of the Old Spice Cup Series season the cars took to the track in Bristol, TN. Tony Pizzaro was able to find a ride and was off and running early, winning the pole and leading many laps. Zach Michael took the lead on pit strategy when Pizzaro had to pit for tires. Pizzaro passed the pace car and had to serve a pit penalty, this sent him back in the field. Zach Michael held on to the lead until last week's winner Zach Leavitt was able to pass the #14. Pizzaro worked his way back up in the field, reached 2nd place but burnt up his equipment. Zach Michael was gaining on Pizzaro for 2nd but a caution came out with two to go leaving Michael just short of 2nd. Meanwhile, Zach Leavitt won the race and stretched his out his early season points lead.
Congrats to Zach on his win and see you all Monday for trucks @ Bristol and Wednesday for cup at Kansas!!

Bristol, TN --- It is now week 3 of the inaugural Old Spice Cup Series season. The series heads to Thunder Valley this week for what should be an exciting race as it will be the first time the NSRA will race at Bristol. Bristol is a half mile oval. It has variable banking around 30 degrees in each corner. It is a unique track as it is the only track on the schedule that is concrete. It is still very early in the season to determine the favorites for title contention but we can examine each driver and their current standing.
Zach Leavitt (Leader): Leavitt won his first race last week and after a 2nd place finish at Daytona the previous week, momentum should be on his side. But weather the track will is another story.
John Griggs (-5): Griggs won the Daytona 500k after staying well outside the top 10 most of the day. He finished 6th at Las Vegas. Another victory would prove that Daytona was not a fluke
Rob Scarberry (-7): Scarberry has finished inside the top 4 in both races this season. He will be a playmaker this season, but short tracks have not been kind to him.
Zach Michael (-8): Michael's sheer dominance of the Truck Series has not carried over to Cup. While he is in the chase as of now, a poor finish at Bristol could put him in a deep hole going into Kansas.
Steven Davis (-16): Davis has not finished in the top 5 yet this season and struggled at Las Vegas. He needs to finish well at Bristol, he only holds the wild card spot by 1 point.
Rest of Field: Pete Glover only needs to make up 1 point to be in the chase. Dave Daniels is only able to run part time this season, despite 2nd at Las Vegas last week he will miss Bristol. Tony Pizzaro ran extremely well at Vegas until handling issues forced a DNF. Pizzaro's racing schedule is very much unsure, if he can race Bristol look out.

In week two of the Old Spice Cup Series season, the drivers took to the track in Las Vegas. Zach Michael won the pole and lead early on. Cautions proved to be problematic early on with the yellow having flown 6 times in the first half of the race. The lead swapped hands frequently during this period with Zach Leavitt and Dave Daniels swapping the lead along with polesitter Zach Michael. What would turn out to be the final restart came with 55 to go and Zach Michael looked like he was going to walk away with the race but Zach Leavitt's tires held up longer and he passed for the lead. Dave Daniels moved up to 2nd and pulled with in half a second of Leavitt but could not make the pass. Michael charged hard to catch Daniels but could not. Leaving Leavitt with the lead and the win. Leavitt now leads the points by 5 over last week's winner John Griggs.
Congrats to Zach Leavitt on his win and thanks to all for showing up! See you Monday for Kentucky and next Wednesday for Bristol!!

Daytona was the site of round 1 of 15 for the inaugural Old Spice Cup Series Season. Zach Michael won the pole for the race and lead early on, but it was really anyone's race. The lead swapped hands 24 times among 7 different drivers, both league records. The first caution did not come out until lap 30 when Ron Stout moved in front of Steven Davis and spun. The racing calmed down for the mid point in the race with Rob Scarberry leading a large portion of the race. The caution then came out again when Pete Glover blew an engine. The race was on for fuel mileage with most of the pack trying to conserve. Then with about 14 laps to go, the server crashed, or as we call it, rain. John Griggs was the lucky man leading when the the failure occurred meaning that he won the Daytona (450) 500!
Congrats to John on his victory and see you all Monday for trucks at Iowa and Wednesday for Cup at Las Vegas!

15 Drivers were on hand for the 1st running of the Old Spice Shootout. Zach Michael looked strong early, winning the pole. The first few laps went well until Zakk Miller threw a block on Ron Stout, the field then checked up crashed, taking out Zach Michael, Jonathan Skrabacz, and others. With so many drivers out of the race, the elimination was not needed after Segment 2. The race continued on with Zach Leavitt running 2nd most of the race and Rob Scarberry right behind. Just before the beginning of Segment 3 (The final segment) John Battista's engine expired, leaving just 5 drivers to fight for the win (10 were running but most were down on power due to earlier wrecks). On the ensuing restart Leavitt tried to pass but Miller ran him up the track, then blocked him when Leavitt tried to pass on the bottom. Coming to the white flag Miller moved up and wrecked himself and Leavitt trying to block yet again. Underdog Bill Thomas just got by the mayhem and narrowly beat Ron Stout to the line with 2 to go to taken the caution and the victory ensuring his place in next season's Shootout!
Thanks to all who showed up and congrats to Bill on his victory, see you all next Monday for Rockingham in trucks and Wednesday for the Cup season opening Daytona 500!
