Traxxas Series: A Day in The Life of Richard Petty

In the 2nd race for the first Traxxas Series, we headed to Bristol. A track known for some of the most exciting racing in the NSRA. Mark Murphy won the pole but Rob Scarberry quickly took the lead and drove away with it. 20 laps in then 2nd place Zach Michael had a rare self spin bring out the first yellow of the race. The race restarted with Scarberry still in the lead. Murphy was running 2nd and challenging for the lead when he hit the wall out of turn 4 and lost a few positions. The 2nd caution of the night was when Murphy spun. And just a few laps later Murphy spun again, ending what was a good night for the #98 team. The final restart of the night came with 23 laps to go and Scarberry still leading with Mike Carroll, who missed the start and fell back two laps, in 2nd and Michael in 3rd. Zach quickly got around the #50 but could not catch Rob until two to go. Steven Spears, who was multiple laps down bounced off the wall and caused Rob to check up and allow the #14 back in the race. Zach charged and cut the lead from 1.2 seconds down to just 2 tenths and after a run out of turn 4 ran out of time and Rob was able to hang on for his 2nd career win in dominating style, leading 142 of 150 laps.

Congrats to Rob on his win and see you all tomorrow for Cup at Bristol
