In the first race of the season, the Truck Series returned to Daytona. This season is a little different than those past, every truck will run the same setup. Zach Michael won the pole and lead the first 11 laps. Right as the field began lap 12 Nigel Thy got into the back of Zach, sending him around and dropping to the back, of which he'd never recover. This allowed Bronson Stafford to take the lead. Stafford continued to lead when Kevin Corbat and Mark Guthrie both had power troubles and spent a few laps on pit road replacing their batteries. Corbat was unable to continue because his team did not have a back-up. Speed Demon Racing continued to run up front as the laps wore down. On the last lap Matt Smith and Alex Crapser both pulled out to try and get around the SDR trio, Stafford threw a block on Smith and stacked up the outside line. The field was three wide heading into Turn 3 and Smith pinned Mark Murphy and was sent sliding up the track right into the pack, taking out most of the challengers to the SDR trio. Coming out of 4, SDR was able to hang on to a 1-2-3 finish giving Bronson his 2nd career win.
