In the final race of the season, the Truck Series returned to Homestead for the Ford EcoBoost 200. Zach Michael leads the points by 11 over teammate Rob Scarberry. Rob has a shot at his first title but Zach was on fire early, winning the pole and leading early, but after a pit stop Mark Murphy took the lead. The race continued on with Murphy leading and Steven Davis running up front. Mark Guthrie, making his MTN Dew Motorsports debut, ran in the top 5 all night. After pit stops under caution, Zach re-assumed the lead with Davis and Guthrie right behind. However, Davis' night went south quickly when he lost control and spun into the inside wall. The race restarted with MDM running 1-2-3. Later in the race on a restart, Guthrie was ready to go and passed Zach on the inside in Turn 1 but Zach was able to pass him back in turn 3. Both continued to fight for the lead, which allowed Mark Murphy to make his way back up to the front and to 2nd place. All three were racing for the win when with 2 laps to go, when Murphy tried to dive to the inside in Turn 3 but lost control, sending him spinning. Everyone got around him and MDM was able to finish 1-2-3 in both the race and the points.
Congrats to Zach on his win and title, thanks to everyone for racing this season. We had 6 different winners in 7 races. See you all Wednesday for the Cup season finale!!
